On the one hand, I love going out to the desert and meeting new people without worrying about inhibitions or what people think about me. I find it easier to talk to complete strangers out there than I do here. I have met quite a few people who I now call friends from all over the world; people who come from all walks of life, many different cultures, and various ideas on just about any topic you can think of. And I have a few of those who really want me to meet up with them this year (Jessica from Arizona, Tom and Mitch from New York, and the Hey Camp gang from Canada) along with some of my fellow LJers (I still haven't met paradox23, and I'd like to hang out with pivyca again, and meredith if she and her honey go again). Also, it seems every time I go to Lowe's or Home Depot, I'm not only finding stuff that I would like to take out to the desert, but I'm also buying it (I just bought another outdoor fireplace). What's the sense of buying these things if I don't take them out there?!
But, on the other hand, I'd also like to go to other places as well. One of the big trips I still want to make is to Australia, with a side trip to New Zealand. I'd also love to visit Tahiti, the Bahamas, the Florida Keys, New York, England, and even Germany and Austria again (might not go to Italy, but I shouldn't let the fact that my luggage was stolen there be the deciding factor). There are also a few cruises I'd like to take.
Now, I'm not just talking about 2005... Australia and Europe is still several years down the line.
I think I've pretty much made up my mind, though... I've already put in my vacation time, and it's for Burning Man. Still haven't bought my ticket yet... I'll probably end up doing that in the next couple of weeks.
