Pulled or strained some of my back muscles trying to pull an altered patient onto the table last night. While asleep, she was okay. But the process of moving someone wakes them up, even in an altered state. At that point, I'm trying to pull her over while she's rolling off the sheet I'm pulling. She preferred staying on her tummy, but I needed her on her back.
This is the one thing I hate about patient care, the moving of patients who are unable to move themselves.
I damn well hope I don't get any seriously overweight patients tonight who can barely move half an inch at a time. Tonight is not the night I'm going to help them. My back hurts too much.
