You know, at one time, I used to think that my phone number was unlisted. After all, it's not in the phone book, and my monthly bill says I'm being charged to keep it as unlisted.

So WHY IN THE FUCK do I keep getting these damned phone calls from all these organizations and mortgage companies who know me?

I've gotten into the habit of taking my phone off the hook when I come home from work so I can sleep. Problem is that there are times that I'm actually expecting phone calls from other people (to whom I've given my phone number) like friends and family.
Of course, it seems that on those days, I get an especially high rate of unwanted calls as well.

When I woke up today, I put my phone back on the hook. I was still sitting at the edge of the bed stretching when it rang. It didn't take but 10 SECONDS!

Over the phone, I don't know if these organizations realy are who they say they are, so I don't deal with them over the phone. I hung it up on the guy.

I came into my computer room to get some updates installed, and 5 minutes later, the phone rings again. It couldn't possibly be the same "company," let alone the same caller, could it?

Sure enough!

This is getting too fucking rediculous. I'm probably going to just have to change my phone number of almost 10 years and only tell the people who need to know. I'm not going to tell my real mortgage company, I'm not going to tell my insurance agent, and I'm not going to tell any company which may sell customer information to third party organizations.
