Finally got my tax return checks deposited... they're been sitting in my truck for over a week now. I guess that's something.
Went to Home Depot, looked at some air-compressors and some generators. They are getting pretty cheap. I'm not sure if I should just go ahead and buy one--I only use it for Burning Man. Although, I could easily use it for other stuff, like providing power to my studio lights when I'm outside (I don't have the battery powered kind). It would pay for itself after about 6 or 7 uses, in comparison to renting the thing.
As for the air compressor... the only thing I would use that for is my air-brush, which I don't use enough to justify buying the generator. On the other hand, getting a compressor might just nudge me to use it more... but I doubt it.
Maybe I should forget about both of those and just go ahead and get myself a digital camera... I don't need anything fancy there... the prices on the simple ones are coming down. I don't need the power that the $1000 versions give... one of the P.A.s at work said he found one for about $300 that does the MPEG video and pictures nicely enough. Sounds like the same size image that these webcams give... that's would be good for what I would use it for. That's probably the easiest size to deal with for webpages anyway.
