From the Declaration of Independence, adopted by the Thirteen United States of America on July 4th, 1776.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Okay, that's far enough.

You see that? Right up there. First off, it says "their Creator." It doesn't say God. Different religeons have different names refering to a Creator. So why does our money still say God? Why not Allah? Or Lillith? Or even Queen Maab?
We have so many different cultures in this country, and rave on and on about your freedom to choose your religeon, yet we still tout God as the only Creator. This is not fair to the Muslims, the Chinese, the Pagans, and every other population with a difference of opinion on which Creator is the correct one.

Personally, we either need to get rid of all inferences to any being, human or spirit, that has a religeos connotation on any government property. This includes money, state parks, and all federal buildings. The other alternative would be to include all deities, idols, and symbols to same said items.

One other phrase in this declaration refers to our right to the pursuit of happiness. Sorry kids, this is not a guarantee that you are going to be happy. It just means that you have the right to pursue it. This means work. In some cases, it means a lot of work. You have to work at making yourself happy. This doesn't mean watching sit-coms happy. This refers to your overall and general happiness as a person. The right to decide which religeon and deity to worship, the right to say what you want to say, and the right to do what you want to do are all factors in making youself happy.
And this right to do what you want to do doesn't mean going out and killing someone because you're mad at them. No, this refers to your choice of career, choice of child-bearing, worshipping the way you want, etc.
You have to make yourself happy. No one else can do it for you. It was your parents' job to teach you how to go about doing that. If they didn't teach you, then they probably didn't know how either.
If you are a parent, this is your job. You chose to become a parent, probably in your own pursuit to be happy, so now you have to pass on what you know.
