On July 11th and 12th, quite a few of us at the hospital where I work will vote if we want the union to take over. I don't say "take over" lightly, because that is exactly what will happen if they are voted in. I have always been anti-union. They served their purpose back in the 1920s to '40's, but I don't see a need for them now. I do see some benefits if they come in, but only if they have the power to implement my ideas.
On the 11th or 12th, I will be voting no for the union. I don't want to pay $50 per month with an initial $100 initiation fee. That's money that I could use elsewhere, like in a savings account.
But god-damn-it-to-hell, if they do get voted in (which they probably will) they are going to be hearing my ideas, and I'm going to push like I've never pushed before.
No, I'm not interested in higher wages... I'm making more than I spend already, what the hell would I want with more money? No, I'm not interested in working less hours (although all weekends off would be nice), going to work, even on bad days, is at least something to do. Otherwise I'd just sit at the computer all day, trying to create new webpages and selling my ideas. I want to keep my ideas for myself... I'm just selfish like that, okay?
So I've listened to both sides, and it seems to me that our union "representatives" treat us like talking sheep. I am no shepherd, but I'm no fucking sheep either!
So I will be making a list of ideas that I will push, starting from day 1, if the union gets voted in.
